Shell’s Space offers short or long-term therapy contracts for primary and secondary schools. Short-term can be as brief as six weeks.
Sessions can also be split into half days allowing space for three sessions subject to availability either morning or afternoon times.
Primary school children are provided with play therapy sessions. This relationship facilitates a therapeutic understanding of what a child may be feeling or attempting to communicate. The observations and reflections of this communication by the therapist during play are a major element in opening the blocks to the freedom of childhood.
In secondary school counselling, a therapist’s professional understanding of teenage life is essential as is an ability to connect to the young person without judging them for their behaviours, opinions and how they fit into families, education, and friendships. Trust and confidentiality are two of the many ingredients that are essential to facilitate a successful therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the young person.
