Shell’s Space
Stephen Henshaw: Adult and young people’s counsellor.
I founded Shell’s Space counselling and psychotherapy to support adults and young people. I provide private counselling sessions for adults and either counselling or play therapy sessions for children.
School contracts are also available through play therapy sessions provided for primary schools and in secondary school settings to older children with over a thousand hours of experience.
My work with adults and young people facilitates the space to navigate the intense emotions and feelings resulting from past or current experiences and promotes personal growth by providing a new perspective.
In younger children, my work involves creating the space and conditions through the therapeutic relationship using play for a child to feel and find their inner self. For the child to believe in themselves and to bring forth their inner self in the safety and trust that it shall not be criticised or shamed.
About me
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, holding a Foundation Degree qualification with distinction in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Derby University. I have also obtained a level four diploma in children’s counselling from the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central awarding body and level two and three certificates in counselling studies from Runshaw College.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which requires ongoing professional supervision and hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) criminal records check.
I have obtained professional public liability insurance to ensure the safety and protection of my clients.
I pride myself on my communication, honesty and belief that a therapeutic relationship can support an adult or child to overcome the challenges that affect their lives.
